2017 is a rich year for the Contextor solution! It benefits from major evolutions which multiply its capacities according to different axes: to deploy and to manage a set of autonomous robots, to create specific interfaces to better assist the users, to quickly configure the processes to be executed by robots, to capture and analyze processes.
Empowered Unattended RPA – Easily operate standalone bots
Contextor has been a pioneer for more than 10 years in “Attended RPA”, where the robot is alongside a human being whom he constantly assists in the use of his workstation: the robot performs some of the business actions and gives the hand back for what remains of human responsibility – checks of consistency and completeness, decision making – bringing quality, comfort and productivity.
What is now called “Unattended RPA” is the ability of a robot to perform autonomously the execution of a process end-to-end, without the need to interact with a human being on decision points. Contextor has also been present on this area for years: we have gained significant references chez Bouygues Telecom, BMW, BNP Paribas, Cardif, Cetelem, Domofinance, Orange, Pierre & Vacances Center Parcs, Société Générale…
In 2017, Contextor is leveraging its “Unattended RPA” offering by adding a set of advanced functionalities to its solution through new software modules that make it easier to deploy, operate and monitor, allowing industrial exploitation of software robots:
- Scalable Distributed Architecture allows to organize and operate robots distributed on various servers – which can be virtual or physical machines – according to the granularity required by the missions to be insured: 1 robot on 1 server, N robots on 1 server, N robots on X servers.
- Dynamic Scheduler Scheduler takes into account all data sources to be processed by the robots (files or streams), assigns tasks to the robots, ensures recovery on error in the event of an anomaly…
- Centralized Control Room simply manages robot activation, assignment of tasks to be performed, alarm management, controls the execution of the robots and simplifies its supervision via graphical dashboards.
Interface Designer – Create interface components for Attended RPA
This visual module allows to quickly create user interfaces that fluidify the interactions between an “Attended RPA” robot and the user who it assists in its tasks.
The desired web interface is created simply by dragging and dropping objects: display areas, input fields, buttons, gauges etc. The robot feeds its visual elements with the data it has access to during the process.
Based on widely used JQuery and Bootstrap web frameworks and libraries, this tool allows to quickly set up virtual web pages, pop-ups or context-sensitive online help pages, retractable application banners…
Interface Designer makes it possible to improve the comfort of the users in their daily work, while guaranteeing a faster learning of the procedures and the strict respect of the operating modes.
Workflow Designer – Quickly configure your bots
Fully visual, this new tool integrated in Contextor Studio supports the design, production, documentation, testing and maintenance of robots, by viewing their entire workflow. The various steps of the process to be executed by the robot are created by simply dragging and dropping the windows of the applications into a workflow.
The optional Process Capture module prepares the automation of a well-identified process: it collects all the interactions between the operator and the various software that he uses as part of the process, either directly on a workstation or remotely. The information obtained – copies of application screens, mouse clicks, data entry, copying and pasting of data … – are then imported into Contextor Studio, which will allow to quickly create the software robot reproducing the execution of the process.

- the documentation of the robot, with export of diagrams, screenshots and comments
The tool also allows the debugging of the robot in “step-by-step mode”, by visualizing all the steps in the workflow directly.
Of course, a developer keeps full freedom to modify the robot code after it has been generated. In particular, it can implement the specific actions that will be necessary to take into account all the scenarios that can occur to a robot in production in an industrialized information system.
More than ever, the ability to rapidly implement advanced software robots, performing complex tasks and fully meeting the high requirements of large enterprise information systems, remains one of the key strengths of the Contextor solution.
Discovery – Capture and analyze processes
This tool allows to fully capture the activity of a set of operators to analyze it and to identify the tasks whose automation will have the highest priority.
By capturing all interactions performed by a team over a period of several hours on their desktops, Discovery will collect a very complete set of data. It will then be analyzed to detect automatable repetitive sequences: Alt-Tab to switch from one application to another, Ctrl C – Ctrl V to copy and paste data, successive mouse clicks are all indicators showing sequences potentially automatable by a robot.
Soon, the tools brought by artificial intelligence – machine learning – will automatically produce a “hit parade” of the tasks that should be automated as a priority for maximum benefit.
Contextor Discovery fosters understanding of business processes observed in real-world conditions and facilitates objective decision-making on the processes to be automated.
