Environment Management

Desktop Studio lets you manage various environments for a given project:

  • The Development environment is used to develop and test the project on a desktop computer,
  • The Production environment is used to test the package deployed in production,
  • The Acceptance environment is used to test the package deployed in acceptance.

These environments are stored in the project solution file.

An environment has the following properties:

  • A Name to identify the environment,
  • A Comment to describe the environment,
  • Various Running options that will be used to start engine in this environment (see description of each option in the Description panel).

To manage project environments, select the command 'Debug\Manage Project Environments' in the Menu bar or in the Debugger Toolbar.

The following dialog is displayed:

It displays a tab for each existing environment.

It lets you:

  • Create a new environment by clicking on the New button,
  • Duplicate the selected environment by clicking on the Duplicate button: all properties of the environment are duplicated,
  • Delete the selected environment by clicking on the Delete button,
  • Create a shortcut on the selected environment by clicking on the Shortcut button: the shortcut is created in the project directory with the name of the environment,
  • Close the dialog by clicking on the Done button: changes are automatically saved before exiting.

Please note: the development environment cannot be deleted.

The current environment can be selected using the environment combobox in the Debugger Toolbar:

This environment is automatically selected when the engine starts, either in debug or in release mode.
